New Moon in Cancer

This morning as I woke up and had a moment to myself before Ocean opened his sweet blue eyes, I thought of this amazing Woman Rising community and how much I love you and all that you are striving to create in your life.

I know that I have been a bit quieter over the past 4 1/2 months as I have devoted more time to being with my son… AND I want you to also know that I have thought of you and in my hazy, sleep-deprived states, marveled at the power of Woman and the courage we each must embody whether we are Mothers, Daughters, Lovers, Sisters as we are each living Revolutionary lives.

I have wept knowing that we are all tied together in this beautiful weaving, whether we have met in real life, had an email chat, or have watched one another quietly on the sidelines of the internet.

I have been humbled by this Journey into Motherhood.  Emotionally, physically, and spiritually… and in the most delightful and surprising ways.
I have been in awe at the power and immensity of LOVE.
I have been radically transformed.
And I really feel like I am just coming up for air after the immersion of the first 4 months of Motherhood.

I say all this to say that truly we are each on profound journeys.
We each have moments that bring up resistance to any kind of inner growth.
We each have moments where we forget that acceptance is key to letting love grow us.
We each carry treasures that are the most exquisite parts of who we are.
And we each have the choice of embodying our light and amplifying it out into the world.

Full Moon In Sagittarius

On Saturday, May 21st, we celebrate the Full Moon in Sagittarius. The time we aim our arrows at what we desire.

As women, we are inherently connected to the Moon and her rhythms.  She moves through us and we reflect her medicine and gifts as she grows and wanes each month.  We feel the shadowy, inner depths of our emotions when she is in her dark or New Moon phase and we shine our radiance when she is illuminating in her full glory during the Full Moon.

It is incredibly important that we remember that these same rhythms that exist outside of us are traversing through our body and mind as well in every moment of our very full and busy days.  This helps us when we are navigating times we feel messy or beautiful, creative or inward, sexy or tender.  It helps us to know that there are greater energies at play that once understood, can actually enhance our lives tremendously.

Because of all that we energetically, emotionally, and physically hold, most of us are seeking rituals to connect us back to Nature and help us to find our inner Truths, Wisdom, and sense of Wholeness as a daily personal growth practice.  With the Moon as our Muse, Witness, and Teacher, we can find our way back to ourselves.

So, what I would love to offer is a Full Moon Ritual.  The Full Moon is in Sagittarius which is ruled by Jupiter.  Jupiter activates our big visions and lots of power.  It is the planet of expansion.

Our theme for this Moon is Sacred Motherhood.
The Native Americans called this Moon the Mother’s Moon because it brings nurturing.
As we know, Motherhood is about LOVE.  It is about NURTURANCE.  SUSTENANCE.
Whether you are a Mama to a child, you carry the coding of Motherhood as you have the ability to birth forward anything you imagine.

So, we get to look at these themes in our own life and our offerings in our homes and communities.

Libra Full Moon Ritual

Today is the Full Moon in Libra.
It heralds Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and the return of Fall in the Southern Hemisphere.

Depending on where you live, you will begin to see the return of green after a long winter or the first signs of release after the summer.

And how beautiful that as women living aligned with the Moon and Natural Season, we can see these reflections in our own lives.

The Full Moon in Libra is inviting us to come into a state of balance.  Now, this is not a word that I LOVE because it sets a standard that I think it very challenging to reach, let alone maintain.

Balance is a word that most of us seek to experience.  Balance between work and home life.  Between play and focused time.  Balance between alone time and time with our partners or families. Balance of the way in which we eat…. The list goes on and on and on….

As a woman, and now as a New Mama, I find the idea of balance just another way in which we end of defeating ourselves.  Or constantly cycling in a wheel that is never ending.  I am not sure if it is truly possible.  What are your thoughts on this?

How to Live in Alignment with the Moon

There is a massive revolution happening. Women are choosing to remember and reclaim the wisdom of their bodies. Why? Because there have been too many emotional and physical challenges stemming from a deep disconnect.  Women are wanting more and better.

And because of the Nature of the Feminine to look within when making changes, we are realizing the deep power of the Moon in our transformation. The Moon is the ultimate symbol of the Divine Feminine, whose wisdom, light and teachings are reemerging now through our own consciousness after a long dark slumber. She reflects to us our own inner rhythms and light/dark.  This then can become the avenue for understanding ourselves from a whole new and empowering perspective. She asks us to reconnect with our own Cycles of the Moon within….The tides that throughout the month influence our energy, creativity, sexuality, intuition, connections, ability to conceive a baby, and bleed.

Why is it so important to live in alignment with your Moon Cycle?

This is such an important question.

If you feel fatigued, irritated, overwhelmed, and/or struggling with chronic or acute feminine health issues, this is a red flag from your body letting you know that there is an imbalance. These everyday “normal” symptoms are generally a sign that you have pushed past your body’s natural resources.

Rather than seeing it as an act of defiance or annoyance, perhaps it might be helpful to reframe this as your call back to the Feminine.

Can we be the change we wish to see in the world?

Since the early 1900’s, International Women’s Day has been observed.  As with any great movement, it always begins and continues with grassroots efforts to make changes that will benefit a certain group that doesn’t always have the voice or power.

This year, the theme for International Women’s Day is “Pledge for Parity”.  The World Economic Forum predicted in 2014 that it would take until 2095 to achieve global gender parity.  Parity is the state or condition of being equal, especially regarding status or pay.  So, what is being asked of us today, and truly all days, is to take some action steps to help women and girls achieve “…their ambitions, call for gender-balanced leadership, respect and value difference, develop more inclusive and flexible cultures or root out workplace bias.”

Honestly, I feel at this point, that those of us living in developed countries MUST stand up and be leaders in this conversation.  There are many women who are impoverished, who do not have the safety to speak, who are being chronically victimized…. who don’t even have the option to get a job.  We must be courageous and inspired to reach out and support our sisters in our local or global communities.

I ask you to make a pledge of helping out a sister in need today, this week, or this month to really be a catalyst in changing the current paradigms for women and girls.

Full Moon in Leo Ritual

Tomorrow is the Full Moon in Leo.  Our first Full Moon of 2016!
Native Americans called this Moon the Wolf Moon.
Whichever way you look at it, the Moon is about engaging in our Wild.  Engaging in our outward fiery Natures.

The Full Moon ILLUMINATES.  And this Moon, with the fiery sign of Leo, can invite us to get reacquainted with parts of ourselves we have been ignoring.  This is a potent time for us to zero in on our Truth so that we can stand with conviction and courage and stand in our self sovereignty.

Now, this is an interesting journey for us as women.
I know for myself that there have been many times throughout my life where I have pushed aside my fiery Nature to “fit in.”
